WE want to grow filmmaking in blackpool and the fylde

Why is this needed?

Whilst Blackpool has a rich history within the creative industries, including theatre, music, and performance, there is currently a lack of opportunity and structure within the film industry. Although local educational institutes such as universities and colleges offer a range of qualifications within the field, graduates are often encouraged to move further afield to the creative hubs of London and Manchester, taking vital skills away from their area.

There is a clear demand for improved filmmaking services, facilities and opportunities that aid local creatives, encouraging them to grow their skills and support the wider communities of Blackpool and the Fylde.

As such, We Film Blackpool C.I.C are in the process of developing a range of workshops, courses, and talks to help develop these skills, including a free members’ Discord server where filmmakers can meet like-minded creatives in their area and get collaborating on their next project. This aids to develop vital connections and inspire a sense of community across the Fylde Coast.

Video Production Courses & Workshops

We'll be offering a range of courses and workshops on all aspects of video production, focusing on nurturing new and independent talent.

Social Events

We want to grow the Blackpool filmmaking community and create closer connections with other creatives in the area, we will be establishing a number of filmmaker meet-up and networking events alongside hosting a Discord community where local filmmakers can meet, share ideas, and support each others productions.

Talks and Meet-the-Maker Events

We want to showcase creative talent from the local area, and give the makers a chance to tell their stories and pass along their experiences. We'll also be bringing in guest speakers from further afield to help stoke the creative fires.

Support For Your Production

We are working on building a collection of equipment and talent that can help you get your production off the ground or take it to the next level. We will be building a stock of accessible equipment and working with local organisations to provide greater opportunities to have your story told.
